What is ACOUSTIC?

How to define terms of acoustic? Acoustic is interdisciplinary science that deals with the study of MECHANICAL WAVES in GASSES, LIQUIDS and SOLIDS including VIBRATION, SOUND, ULTRASOUND and INFRASOUND.

What is Musical Acoustics

MUSICAL ACOUSTICS is the branch of acoustics that deals with the generation of sound by musical instrument, the transmission of sound to the listener, and the perception of musical sound. A main research activity in musical acoustics is the study of the way in which musical instruments vibrate and produce sound.

Musical Instruments Classify

The most common way of classifying musical instruments is according to the nature of the primary vibrator.
The vibrations of a pluck string, a struck membrane, or a blown pipe can be described in terms of normal modes of vibration. Determining the normal modes of a complex vibrator is often termed model analysis. Much of the progress in understanding how musical instruments generate sound is due to methods of model analysis, such as HOLOGRAPHIC INTERFEROMETRY and experimental model testing.

Music is organized on many different levels. Sounds can be arranged into MELODIES, HARMONIES, RHYTHMS, TEXTURES and PHRASES.

BEAT, MEASURES, CADENCES and FORM all help to keep music organized and understandable. But the most basic way that music is organized is by arranging the actual SOUND WAVES themselves so that the sounds are interesting and pleasant and go well together.
